PCC Dafydd Llywelyn Joins Cycling Tour to Honour Fallen Officers
On Wednesday 6th May, Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn joined Dyfed-Powys Police Officers on Chief Constable Ifan Charles’ Cycling Tour. The 75-mile cycle started in Fishguard and concluded in Police Headquarters in Llangunnor.
A team of 35 Dyfed-Powys Police representatives, made up of Officers, the Police and Crime Commissioner, OPCC’s Communications and Engagement Lead, and Chief Constable Ifan Charles, all undertook a challenge to cycle 75 miles to raise money and awareness for Care Of Police Survivors (COPS). COPS is currently the only charity in the United Kingdom who are solely dedicated to supporting the families of police officers and staff who have died on duty. They provide support opportunities and access to counselling services to help family members who are going through a devastating time.
Along the ride, the group stopped and were joined by family members who have lost a loved one during police service. These stops were an opportunity to reflect in remembrance.
Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn reflected:
“It was a great privilege to join the Chief’s Cycling Tour and to have the opportunity to raise money for such a brilliant charity. The services and support that COPS UK provide to bereaved families makes a huge difference during an incredibly difficult time. It is important that we, as a community, remember and honour those who have lost their lives during service.”
With the aim to raise £1000 for COPS, the cycling challenge raised a remarkable £2690! Da iawn to all the cyclist who took part!
