The Police and Crime Commissioner has provided grant funding to each of the Youth Justice Teams within Dyfed-Powys to support with the resource costs of a Youth Restorative Justice Caseworker.

The Regional Youth Justice Victim and Restorative Justice Project will provide support to victims and enable their voice to be heard at each stage of the Youth Justice System and support the delivery of the Police & Crime Plan (PCP) priorities from 2025 to 2029.

The project ensures that restorative approaches are used in a way that would benefit the child, the victim and the wider community. The focus on reparative activity  includes:

  • helping young people to recognise the positive contribution it can have for themselves and others
  • helping to build the young person’s sense of self-worth by identifying something they would be good at
  • noticing and praising the young person’s positive skills, qualities, attributes and talents
  • helping young people to reflect on their behaviour and understand that actions have consequences
  • offering opportunities to support young people in developing constructive interests and widen their horizons

Youth Justice Teams link with partners including Dyfed-Powys Police and Local Authority departments (family support, children’s services, youth services, education departments and community safety partnerships) as part of service delivery.
