Young People Bring Colour, Creativity and Community Pride to Cardigan
Young people in Ceredigion have transformed a local rugby stand into a vibrant piece of community artwork, demonstrating the positive impact of early intervention and youth engagement.
The work has been delivered through strong partnership working through the Home Office–funded Bridges and Safe Spaces (BASS) programme, delivered in partnership with Dyfed Powys Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Hotspot Action Fund.
The youth-led graffiti project at Cardigan Rugby Club has seen young people work alongside youth workers and local artists to design and create a striking mural, celebrating both the club’s heritage and the creativity of the young people involved.
The initiative forms part of a wider youth outreach activity delivered across Ceredigion, providing safe, supportive opportunities for young people, during key times of vulnerability, including after school and in the evenings.
By giving young people, a sense of ownership over spaces they use, the project has helped to foster pride, strengthen community relationships, and reduce anti-social behaviour.
Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“ Projects like this show what can be achieved when we invest in prevention and give young people the opportunity to be a part of something positive.
By working together with partners across the Ceredigion area, we are not only enhancing local spaces but also supporting young people to build confidence, develop new kills and feel a stronger connection to their communities.”
