This Safeguarding Week, the Dyfed-Powys Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is highlighting positive safeguarding practice across our communities, celebrating the vital work of partners and service that help keep people safe from harm.

Safeguarding is about more than responding when something goes wrong. It’s about preventing harm before it happens, recognising risks early, and building a culture where everyone feels supported and protected. Positive safeguarding practice focuses on working together, sharing learning and putting people at the heart of every decision.

Working in Partnership
The OPCC has a statuary responsibility to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys. But safeguarding cannot be achieved by one organisation alone, it relies on strong partnerships between police, local authorities, health boards, voluntary organisations and community groups.

The Commissioner’s office commissions a range of specialist services that provide support to victims and survivors, help reduce re-offending and improve community safety across the Dyfed-Powys area. These services ensure that people affected by crime have access to practical help, emotional support and specialist advice when they need it most.

Commissioner Llywelyn said:
"Across Dyfed-Powys, I'm proud of the work being done by our commissioned services and partners who support victims, reduce harm and make our communicates safer. Together we can continue to build a culture where people feel safe, valued and heard."

Building Safer Communities Together
Safeguarding week is an opportunity to recognise the positive work already happening across our area, and to strengthen our collective commitment to protecting others.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner will continue to work with the partners to promote early intervention, raise awareness and commission services that put people first.

Together we can build, safer, stronger communities where everyone - children and young people and adults is supported to live without fear and protected from harm.
