Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn spent the day in Pembrokeshire on Thursday September 11, for his latest Community Engagement Day, meeting with police officers, young people, and partner organisations.

The day began at Tenby Police Station, where the Commissioner met with officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Prevention Team (NPPT) to discuss local policing priorities. He also joined officers on patrol to see first-hand the work being carried out in the community.

Later in the morning the Commissioner visited Greenhill School in Tenby to learn more about how young people are engaging with the Violence Against Women Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) school’s toolkit project, supported by youth workers and school liaison officers.

In the afternoon the Commissioner travelled to Haverfordwest Police Station for further discussions with NPPT officers, before attending a meeting focused on Op Ivydene, a local operation tackling antisocial behaviour and safeguarding concerns. He also met with partners to discuss national and local approaches to community safety.

The visit took place alongside the ongoing Safer Streets Summer Initiative, which is delivering targeted crime prevention activity and community reassurance work across the Dyfed-Powys area during the summer months.

Commissioner Llywelyn said:
“Community Engagement Days give me a chance to meet with officers, partner organisations and the public to better understand local priorities. From speaking with young people in schools to meeting officer son the frontline, these visits help ensure the voices of our communities are reflected in policing. Alongside this, initiatives like our Safer Streets Summer campaign are helping to strengthen safety and build confidence across Pembrokeshire and beyond.”

The commissioner holds regular community surgeries across the Dyfed-Powys area. Visit our Public Meeting webpage for details of upcoming surgeries in your area.
