Local Schools and Colleges Get an Exclusive Behind-the Scenes Look at Dyfed Powys Police HQ
Dyfed-Powys Police Headquarters opened its doors recently to welcome pupils and students from schools and colleges across the area, giving them a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and learn more about policing.
The special day, hosted by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dafydd Llywelyn, offered a packed schedule of interactive sessions and demonstrations designed to showcase the variety of careers and roles within policing.
Visitors were welcomed with a talk from the PCC and Chief Constable Ifan Charles before heading off to begin their day. From seeing the Dog Section in action and taking on the challenge of the Cyber Crime Escape Room, to getting hands on experience in a Forensics workshop, students were able to experience the practical side of modern policing. They also met officers from the Rural Crime Team to hear about the importance of protecting our countryside communities before finishing the day with a behind- the-scenes tour of the Force Communication Centre.
PCC Llywelyn said:
“ It was fantastic to welcome young people from across the Dyfed-Powys area to Headquarters. Events like this are an Important way to inspire future generations to consider a career in policing and to show the breadth of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our communities safe.
I’d like to thank all the students and teachers who joined us for the day, as well as the many officers and staff who gave their time to deliver such engaging sessions and demonstrations. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the event a real success.”
Following the success of this week’s event, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner hope to host another HQ Open Day for schools and colleges in the spring.
