National Safeguarding Week 2024

As Wales Safeguarding Week 2024 begins, the Police and Crime Commissioner is raising awareness of critical services that protect and support vulnerable people across our communities. Running from 11 to 17 November, this annual week encourages collective action to enhance safeguarding across Wales.

This year, a key focus is on the importance of safeguarding partnerships and the services available to protect those at risk. PCC Dafydd Llywelyn, who is attending the National Safeguarding Week Conference – Right Help at the Right Time, emphasised the collective responsibility in safeguarding efforts.

Commissioner Llywelyn said, “Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Wales Safeguarding Week provides an important opportunity to come together, raise awareness, and strengthen our efforts to protect the most vulnerable members of our communities. By working collaboratively, we can ensure that individuals at risk receive the right help at the right time.”

The Dyfed-Powys region offers a range of services aimed at supporting victims and enhancing community safety. One such service is Paladin, a specialist advocacy service for high-risk stalking victims. Paladin provides essential support, including risk assessments and guidance, helping victims navigate challenging situations with professional assistance.

Wales Safeguarding Week 2024 serves as a reminder of the resources available through commissioned services and the significance of multi-agency collaboration in protecting individuals from harm. Organised by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), the initiative unites public, private, and voluntary organisations to improve awareness and promote safeguarding practices.
