On Thursday, 19th June, I spent the day in Powys meeting with local councillors and police staff as part of my ongoing commitment of visibility and accessibility across the Dyfed-Powys policing area.

I began my day in Newtown, meeting with local councillors. During this meeting we discussed matters that were important to the local area, as part of my ongoing commitment to community engagement and partnership working.

Continuing from the councillor meetings, I visited numerous police stations. These included Newtown, Llandrindod Wells, and Brecon. Throughout my visit I had the chance to speak with multiple police staff of different rank and department, who provided valuable insight on policing in the Powys area. During these discussions, we spoke regarding the internal survey I launched to support the recruitment of the next Chief Constable. Insight into internal opinions is key for me to comprehend what police staff need and what qualities they are looking for in the next Chief Constable.

Visiting different communities in the Dyfed-Powys area over the last couple of weeks has offered invaluable recognition of areas of praise and areas of concern to the public, councillors, and police staff.

I thank everyone I have met for their time and honesty.
