Community Engagement Day in Ceredigion
Today I was in Ceredigion, where I had the opportunity to engage with local organisations and hear more about their experiences, priorities and concerns.
I began the day at Aberaeron Police Station, where I met with Chief Inspector Richard Yelland. We discussed local policing priorities and the importance of community visibility, as well as the wellbeing of our officers and staff – a particularly relevant conversation as we mark Mental Health Awareness Week.
I then visited RAY Ceredigion, an organisation doing outstanding work to support children, families and communities. Their focus on wellbeing, resilience and connection is making a real difference to people’s lives. It was inspiring to hear about the creative and inclusive ways they’re helping individuals and families across the county to thrive.
Finally, I spent time with Aeron Arts, learning about how they use creativity and the arts to bring people together and support positive mental health. Their projects are a brilliant example of how community-led initiatives can tackle loneliness, and promote wellbeing with a strong sense of belonging.
Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us how vital it is to look after our wellbeing and support one another – not just this week, but all year round. It’s clear that in Ceredigion, organisations like these are playing a key role in doing just that.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with me today. Your insights and experiences continue to help shape my work and inform the decisions we make on behalf of communities across Dyfed-Powys.
