Community Engagement Day in Carmarthenshire

Yesterday, I spent time in Carmarthenshire meeting with local representatives, staff and community organisations as part of my ongoing commitment to listening to the people of the Dyfed-Powys area.
The day began in Pontiets, where I met with local councillors to discuss policing matters that are important to their communities. I’m always grateful for the insight that local members can provide, and it was a valuable opportunity to hear their thoughts and feedback.
From there, I visited the team at RAY Ceredigion, an organisation doing vital work to support young people and families. Learning more about the projects they’re delivering, and the challenges they face, helps inform the decisions I make as Police and Crime Commissioner.
In the afternoon, I travelled to Dafen to speak with Dyfed-Powys Police staff about the internal survey I’ve launched to support the recruitment of the next Chief Constable. It’s important to me that officers and staff feel heard during this process, and I appreciated the opportunity to listen to their views in person.
To round off the day, I met with a local councillor in Llwynhendy to discuss specific concerns affecting that part of Carmarthenshire. Conversations like this ensure that I’m kept up to date with local issues and can work with partners to identify solutions.
Thank you to everyone I met today for their time and openness.
